Whats Artificial Double Tracking?

Commonly known as ADT is an effect made popular through the Beatles. Its an effect that doubles the vocals but as the same time gives it a very short delay feeling. While ADT can be use well for its sound, it gives a great impression of fullness.

Yes, this effect became famous though The Beatles. However, my favorite use of it was on some classic R&B records in the 90's such as: "One of them Days" by Monica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asXau88O5Is You'll hear the effect take prominence during the verses. This effect can set an awesome mood on a smooth record also. (In my opinion but give it a shot!)

This effect will be done as an insert to your vocal or instrument so prepare to boost you sound because this will diminish you signal a little bit.

By getting a delay plug-in with Dry/Wet, Modulation depth and Rate options you can do this effect:

Dry/Wet: should be set at the same level with dry or slightly louder than wet.

Delay time: between 20 and 50 ms (milliseconds)

Modulation Depth: 40% as a starting point

Modulation Rate: less than 1Hz

Feedback: None
